In 1977 British police officers concluded Operation Julie, a two-year effort to prevent the manufacture and distribution of LSD that resulted in the arrest of 126 people, including the legendary LSD chemists Richard Kemp and Christine Bott. The investigation cost British taxpayers £500,000 ($4,400,000 USD inflation adjusted) and used 800 police officers from 11 forces to conduct raids on 87 homes across Wales and England. A vast quantity of crystalline LSD was purposelessly destroyed.

To protest the unjust arrests of Richard Kemp and Christine Bott, the poet Heathcote Williams painted the slogan "CHEMISTS REUNITE WE NEED ACID" on a wall in London's Notting Hill Gate. This photo has circulated without attribution for decades and seems to have first appeared in the underground newspaper International Times in 1977. The photographer is unknown. This shirt is screen printed by hand from an original scan of the historical photo. This is a limited run of 200 shirts and only 6 shirts remain.
